Two stages of my most recent painting.
I am now laying thick oil paint on top of last weeks foundations ….
I have mostly used a palette knife, which is wonderfully liberating ….
Looking forward to one more sitting next week.

This powerful retrospective of our best known American pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein, opens tomorrow at the Tate Modern.
125 paintings and sculptures are exhibited – many instantly recognisable and others a treat to see and study.
Lichtenstein is best known for his paintings based on comic strips, featuring bold lines and coloured with hand painted dots.
His late ‘Brushstroke’ paintings are just wonderful in their simplicity.
Should there be a homage to Howard Hodgkin…?!
After enjoying this fantastic exhibition, refreshments were served in the dramatic surroundings of the former Bankside Power Station, now the Tate Modern.
Roy Lichtenstein, A Retrospective is on at Tate Modern, from 21 February to 27 May 2013.
Valery Koshlyakov’s magnificent large-scale paintings/collages are painted on flattened cardboard boxes.
Solid monuments and architecture are loosely painted on a fragile surface, which looks as though it could fall off the wall at any moment.
The paintings are free and exciting with drips and flashes of subtle colour.
Until 5th May 2013.

In a dark gallery, with dark walls, 7 wonderful photographs shine …..
The bodies of the models are painted with ground marble dust, making them cold and translucent.
The photographs are very large – which made me feel like I was looking at sculptures.
An inspirational exhibition.
Until 9th February.
